Eco-Friendly Products That Kill Mold

If there’s one word that worries business owners it’s mold.

No matter how well we maintain our facilities, mold may be present without even realizing it. A major reason is that mold thrives in dark, warm, humid places. Basements, kitchens, and bathrooms are at the most risk for mold and bacteria growth because they are moisture-rich environments. When conditions are right, dangerous mold colonies can grow within 24-48 hours. Leaving them untreated can cause aggravate allergies, or worse, cause serious respiratory illnesses. Therefore, it is vitally important to kill mold as soon as it is discovered.

Here are three eco-friendly products that kill mold without environmental harm...

1.    Vinegar: Found in almost every home and small business, vinegar has experienced a resurgence the last few years thanks, in large part, to the desire of individuals to introduce green cleaning products and techniques in their homes and businesses. This mild acid can kill 4 out of 5 mold species.
2.    Hydrogen Peroxide: Most people only equate hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) as an antiseptic solution used in First-Aid situations to help prevent infection. But the truth is that hydrogen peroxide is also an outstanding antiviral, antifungal, and antibacterial solution that kills mold on a variety of surfaces, including floors, walls, and countertops.
3.    Baking Soda: Baking soda is a white mineral powder (sodium bicarbonate), that can be used to kill mold in your home or business. Often used in conjunction with vinegar, it causes a reaction in which carbon dioxide is created as a product of that reaction. Since mold is aerobic (requires oxygen), the CO2 essentially suffocates the mold.
